I wanted to share this incredible interview on Fragrantica with natural perfumer/author/teacher Mandy Aftel about being an artisan businesswoman.
Mandy is a dear friend, a mentor, and someone whose practice and values I respect to the full moon and back. She approaches her work with such integrity, wisdom, passion and a deep reverence for beauty. Mandy is one of the main reasons I became immersed in the world of natural perfumery after experiencing her beautiful jasmine solid perfume many years ago, falling in love and needing to learn more. If you do not know Mandy's work, please check out her website and read her amazing book Essence and Alchemy.
I also have some very exciting news to share. Mandy and I will be collaborating on an installation about the natural history of perfume for an exhibition curated by the incredible David Wilson, called The Possible, which will be opening at the Berkeley Art Museum on January 29th. More info soon.
